Tim and Sheryn are big fans of LOST.

And like many fans of the show, they got together with friends every week for six seasons and were a part of a worldwide phenomenon. When they mentioned this to me in our first meeting about their wedding, they saw my eyes light up. It’s no secret that I am a huge LOST fan. It was my obsession for 6 years and still is my inspiration for creativity on many levels. So without hesitation, I said to them “We need to do this! For your wedding video, we need to do LOST!”

But I wanted the video to still reflect their real life love story. They had told me they had met early in college but did not start dating until they met again 8 years later. Instantly, I knew this was perfect to throw into the LOST machine of storytelling. It was the theme of the show. FATE, DESTINY… LOVE. What if your soulmate, the one person you were destined to be with… what if you never met? Would fate step in and ultimately bring you back together? The philosophy shared on the show was that WHATEVER HAPPENED, HAPPENED… and somehow history would course correct itself.

When pitching this idea to Tim & Sheryn, I knew we couldn’t do the entire show (a show about a group of survivors whose flight crashed on a mysterious island). Instead we would focus one of the many stories of LOST, one that reflected what the show was all about. The story of Desmond and Penny, and his strange (and uncontrollable) ability to travel through time was epic enough to be the basis of their concept film combined with their wedding Same Day Edit.

And so here is LOST, a love story unbound by space and time.

I’ve known Michael since he was about 5 years old and have watched him grow up. He had his ups and downs through the years but he never failed to have a smile on his face. A natural actor, comedian, and fan of the movies, Mike always expressed his appreciation for my work, especially the movie spoofs I produced during my college years. When his fiance Marissa approached him about booking a videographer that she liked for their wedding he already had his cousin in mind. It wasn’t until later that they realized they were talking about the same person. It’s easy to say that putting together their Same Day Edit was extra special for me. And so here’s to Mike and his lovely leading lady, Issa… CHEERS!

Love is in the air… literally, for Jos & Ron’s travel themed wedding. From an early morning GoCar ride to a “flying” cake worthy of being on the Food Network, this one is always on the move. Check out this “remixed” version of their Same Day Edit (featuring an appearance by the LMFAO Box Head) before it takes off!

They love to dance. Check. They love Apple products. Check. The love the TV show FRIENDS. Check. They love weddings. Check!

One of the cool things about meeting couples in this business is finding out how much you have in common with them. And with Carissa & Charlie, I share a lot. As fellow vendors in the wedding industry (Carissa is a planner and Charlie is a graphic designer), they know what it takes to pull of a successful event. Although I missed part of the reception to edit their SDE, I could hear all the laughter and feel the thumping music all the way from the conference room above the main hall. Someone, indeed, knows how to throw a party.

Same Day Edit, a LIFETIME memory.

Those are the words Trish, the new Mrs. Day, posted under her wedding video on facebook. I might have to trademark the slogan. But in those few words she summed up our goal when putting together the SDE in the time in between the ceremony and the reception: to create a moment that will be remembered forever. At least we cross our fingers and hope we do. But the SDE can also serve another purpose.

Trish and Josh, the best of friends since their early school days, were given approval by their church to write their own personal vows. But only those privileged to be up on the altar with them were able to actually hear them.

So immediately I wanted to listen to the vows as I began the edit after leaving the church. What I heard was beautiful and it needed to be heard by their guests. It easily became the framework for their video.

Putting together a Same Day Edit is not for the faint of heart, but with such heartfelt and honest words spoken between a groom and his bride, it makes it so much easier.

To the new Mr. & Mrs. Day. thank you for having us be a part of your most special of days.

Gigi and Ryan are no strangers to gathering a group of people to a location that is both urban & dramatic and having them leave with a smile. It has been the secret to their success.

When Gigi contacted me last year I noticed something at the bottom of her e-mail: Buttermilk. Was it the Buttermilk of Los Angeles food truck fame? When I called her back, I found out that, yes, indeed it was! Over the last few years, Gigi & Ryan have delighted their fans (including myself) to their renowned Red Velvet pancake bites, Hawaiian bread cinnamon sticks and powered cake donuts. YUM!!!

So it was with great anticipation to return the favor and serve Gigi & Ryan and their guests a sweet Same Day Edit on their wedding day.
